On December 25, St Mary's House of Welcome will run The Big Give 2009, bringing together around 300 isolated and disadvantaged Melbournians for a memorable Christmas lunch at the Fitzroy Town Hall.
Now in its sixth year, this important initiative re-captures the true spirit of Christmas and unites individuals from all walks of life, as well as community groups and businesses.
If you're a carer or community worker, you have an important role to play in The Big Give 2009. Firstly, by obtaining tickets to the event for your clients. Secondly, by publicising the event to your colleagues. Lastly, by arranging transport to ensure your clients get to The Big Give.
The Big Give also requires support from business and the corporate sector and there are still a number of high profile sponsorship opportunities available for this year's event. Please contact Sr. Rosanne Murphy or Lara Denes on (03) 9417 7985 to find out more about this year's sponsorships opportunities and partnerships.
The Big Give 2009 promises to be as festive and welcoming as past years. We hope that you can partner with us to make this year's event fabulous!

"We
are called as a community to assist those who endure the isolation
that accompanies poverty and homelessness. St Mary's thanks the
many volunteers and corporate supporters who put out their hearts
and hands in friendship to help share the Christmas spirit. Your
generosity towards those in need on Christmas Day makes a tremendous
difference to the lives of many.

"Christmas is day where families and loved ones come together - but it can be a tough day for people who are socially isolated, like the homeless. The Big Give Christmas Day lunch is yet another outstanding example of St Mary's House of Welcome reaching out to the marginalised - and making our community stronger. The Victorian Government applauds this outstanding initiative." |

"I wholeheartedly endorse the Big Give Christmas Day lunch for the homeless. Too often Christmas time becomes dominated by consumerism and consumption while its true meaning is all about good news to the poor. The hard work of all those involved in this event is to be praised and I wish them the greatest success" |
